Sights and sounds from my experience

It is 12:15 in the afternoon, and we've had four sirens in the past two hours. No explosions that I could hear, though. The exercise of going up and down the stairs is the only one I get these past few days.

North of us, where the alarm either coincides with the bombs, or the where there is no warning alarm because time is too short, people have stayed in bomb shelters for the past ten days. They get food delivered to them, but some places medicines are running short and especially the elderly and those with less means who suffer. Reports of casualties from other parts of the north are coming in.

This is the view from my parents' window, a picture that I took yesterday, Friday morning, the busiest time of the week. Note the empty, ghostly street.
This is the stair way where we hide, hopefully successfully.
I told you that one of my sisters lives in a north facing apartment in one of the top floors of a high rise. They moved into the living/dining room as you can see, which is what the recommendation is to do.
Since they live in a high rise, they obviously can't go down the stairs each time, there wouldn't be enough time even if they did. So their "safe area" is just outside, near the elevators.

Finally, someone filmed this and put in on YouTube. The sound of the siren and explosions are clear. This is what we live with daily. A few times a day. You simply don't get used to it. I don't know why this guy was so crazy to go out and film this, but he did. Here it is.
WARNING for those living in northern Israel - you're about to hear a siren. It's recorded!

Update: There were two more sirens for a total of six and it's not even 1:00 p.m. here. There's a heavy feeling that something bad awaits us with all these sirens.

Hi Melly,

Think i missed an entry—or i was just behind from the get-go. This is to let you know that my thoughts are still very much with you—more than you can know, really. I so appreciate your empathy and admire your strength & courage—how I wish that governments really did represent the principles and will of the people. You are an exemplary human-being.

Positive energy,
Edie

More prayers headed your way, Melly. We are thinking of you and everyone caught in this horrific situation.

I wish our world leaders would quit grandstanding atop the blood of so many innocents and just get the cease fire. Makes me shake with anger.

Hi Melly - it is your husband in Canada.

I am getting tired of frozen food. Don't make me come there for a good meal - as I don't have very good running shoes.

Love,

M. Noo

Hi Melly,
I just want you to know that there is tremendous support for the brave state of Israel here in this USA. Hang in there. We are on your side.

Soul of Dawn, rdl, Edie - thank you all so very much for all the support.

Kathleen - I feel the same way.

Grumpy Owl's mom - thank you so very much. I hope for all our sake that someone is listening.

Jayne, I haven't read the comments. I don't think I can.

Honey, baby, I love you and miss you. Soon...

Kielib, thanks.

To the anon who called me typical Israeli scum and whose comment I left out:
If you look at previous posts, you'll see many comments critical of Israel and wishing a bomb to fall on me.
Other than that, most comments were supportive of what I'm going through personally combined with genuine wishes for peace.
Kielib, I believe, was the first who expressed support of Israel and mentioned sides. While this space supports peace, I thought it was only fair to have one comment like that.
As I've mentioned and asked on countless occasions, I don't want to make this a place for political discussion. There are many places where people aren't in a fragile state of mind such as mine at the moment and can handle it better where you can express your hatred towards me there. Trust me, I've heard it all before and nothing you can say will make me change my opinion that we need to live in peace and nothing you can say will make me hate you back.
