My Work Space

Now,

you tell me -

can anyone, but anyone at all, accomplish anything in this mess???

And who do you think I blame?
Me!

Hey, I just cleaned mine. Whew, got in under the wire on this one. What a relief.

I cleaned mine one week ago, and it looks worse than this already ;)

(No kidding. i'm totally unable to keep a clean desk. I so want to, but in 20 years of using a desk, it's never worked. Go fig.)

Cavan, you like cookies too???

Yzabel and Liz, I'm so jealous. You don't think you could swing by and help me out here???
I just have no idea how to tackle this. This is only just one corner the rest of the office is even messier...

Oh my! guess u need one of those organizational gurus to stop by.

The ones on my desk are Oreos. :)

Melly,
Too funny. I wish I had a digital camera, which I think I'll eventually get, so I could send you a picture of my desk. I think clutter is characteristic of the creative soul. Clutter is chaos. We accept that. It's what inspires us to write, to create a sense of order. Kudos to your desk.

Mine used to be like that, but then I wanted to take a photo -- so I cleaned it up. Guess what? It's still tidy! :)

Melly said...

rdl, you have no idea how right you are!

Cavan, Oreos are definitely acceptable :)

Oh boy Scot. I'm glad it makes you laugh, but to be honest, I think it's starting to get to me...

Really Karen? How did you do it? What's your secret? YOu gotta tell me.
Well, I guess the first step is to tidy it and then worry about keeping it like this.

Melly,
Do you want me to pass by and clear the mess? But then you'll not find a thing ... ya!

melly said...

Oh, yes please. Would you???
I'll find things. You'll just have to stay and tell me where you put them all :)

Mine looks much worse. Papers and pens scattered everywhere. Books and notebooks stacked all around. Let's not forget the Christmas presents sitting innocently in front of my floor-to-ceiling book case, just waiting to be wrapped. I'll get to that on the 24th.

That's my desk anad guess what? IF it didn't look like this I couldn't get anything done.

I used to try to clear up my desk and "bless it" for the next day's work every night befor bed, but after seeing your post, I looked around and eeek! This place is totally out of control--much worse than yours.

What you have right there, is a localised mess. From a bird's eyeview, it's perfectly orderly, but when you zoom in, you get a heart-attack...kinda like with my workspace!

Incidentally, when I do make a mess, I always make it in exactly the same way each time, so I can still find things. A chaotic order of sorts :-)

I sympathize completely. My workspace looks just as bad. Piled high with books, CDs, movies and other junk. I just cleaned it last night but it's already starting to grow again.

melly said...

Deborah, worse? Oh, my. BUt it does make me feel better. Thanks :)

Rose, I guess you feel more comfortable like that. I can relate ;)

Bless it? Patry, I'm going to try and bless it. LOL, that's too funny. Is there a certain blessing I should say? D)

Eric, yes, I'm very good at making piles of things I deem to relevant. But then I pile the piles one on top of the other...

Fred, I cleaned mine just now and hope it will last. At least a few days. Here, I'll bless both our desks for us :-)

Duuude. So much tidier than my workspace. In addition to ten times the chaos, my keyboard is covered in mystery stains. Turn it upside down and crumbs fall out.

It's no wonder the monitor started spewing smoke.

I think chaos is a sign of a creative mind. My husband thinks I'm a pig. Oink!

melly said...

Oink if you're messy!
Should be a sticker.

Good, I feel much better Pat.

Hey, you can see desk surface -- that's more than many of us can say most of the time!

Is that a box of frozen corn or something?

Maybe a chicken pot pie???

Melly said...

No, just shortbread cookies I have with my coffee. There, you now know one of my habits...

OddVinnieP said...

For some reason, I need the mess. It makes the desk "creative" or something. I also know exacly what is in the mess and where.
At work though, I hate clutter. Is that wierd?

Melly said...

Yes, OddVinnieP, it's weird, but then you wouldn't be odd vinnie - right? ;)

See, the problem is that this desk is my work space, so... I'm in trouble.

But no worries - I cleaned up and cleared the desk from the clutter. I'm much happier now :)

Oh my!I got my new computer and I TOTALLY cleaned my desk out. Got rid of all the junk piling up. It's so clean and clear I don't know what to do with myself! :)

Melly said...

That's right, you got the new computer. How's it working for you???
I'm sure you'll do just fine with a clear desk. In no time it will have your character again :)

Ryan Oakley said...

My God Melly . . .

I supposed I shouldn't be surprised at the disorganization. After all, I have seen you play chess.

Melly said...

Okay you!
Low blow. I protest!
Stop attacking my chess game on cyber space... or... or... mocking me in general. And we both know why you're mocking me ;)

I wish I could stop laughing so hard.

(By the way, if I recall, while the score is in your favour, you've been stalling on a rematch.)

LOL loving thhe new computer and already things are piling up :) It never takes me long :) Though I really am trying to keep things a little neater...at least for a little while longer :)
