A Lonely Update

I thought I was going to have a good internet access where I'm staying and that you wouldn't even notice I'm away. But as it turns out, I have very no access due to some incompatibility issues which I hope to solve by Sunday or Monday.

Please bear with me until then.

As always, no internet connection increases my writing productivity, but believe it or not, it also makes me more tired. Does this make sense?

I might still show up intermittently when I can use the computer I'm on now (not mine). But otherwise, my laptop is a standalone. How odd!

Interesting what you say about getting more writing done...something I've secretly suspected.

I realize your point when you say you get more writing done, and the context. However.

Your posts are writing. The foremost purpose of writing is so that it will affect others, because they read it. (Yes, there is creative desire, but that is selfish.) You fulfill that affect on others with All Kinds of Writing, while your actual creative 'work' stays inside your mind or your computer. I imagine you allow significant others to take a look at it, but you get what I mean here.

You won't win a Nobel or Booker with them. But I do believe that your posts are no less significant, fulfilling, and satisfactory to life that your 'real' writing. And not just to you.

A writer who cares about his/her readership more than the actual writing has understood what writing is all about. Community. Not posterity.

Yes, it does. I get more accomplished with my creative writing when I'm offline. When I'm online, my efforts are focused on my blogs and building friendships with my readers. Both leave me exhausted by the end of the day, but it's the good kind.

I also have to agree with Jonathan. I'd love to have my novel turn into a bestseller. But the greater joy is waking up every morning and finding comments on my blog.

With that, I'll close by saying that you've done a great job with your blog. :)

I'm sorry for your distress, but i'm glad it's just not me and my ineptness; i dragged by new apple laptop to fla. mostly for naught.

Patry, your suspicions are fully justified :)

Jonathan, first, let me thank you.
You make a very interesting point, one that we should perhaps touch on some time. I never thought of it this way, but you're right, I am enjoying writing in the blog immensely.

Oh my, Deborah. Blush. Thank you :)
You definitely have a point there I'd have to think about further.

Thanks rdl, luckily, it's all fixed now :)

Thanks Fred. This really makes me feel better :)

k, no worries, I'm still around, just in a bit of a "limpy" mode. Glad to see you here :)

Amazing! Jennifer, I can't wait to come visit and read all about Vegas. I know I missed a lot.
