I ...I did't hear much compassion here in your post. I heard a kids die, "shit happens" tone... the same tone Israel takes to civilian deaths.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12725467.post-1154379903334931032006-07-31T17:05:00.000-04:002006-07-31T17:05:00.000-04:00Thanks Jason, you're so right.Carter, Israelis (an...Thanks Jason, you're so right.

Carter, Israelis (and Jews in general) are accutely aware of what you've mentioned. I'm not sure why that happens. Why the 100 rockets that Kiriyat Shmona got yesterday (before Qana) was hardly mentioned, why the over 1000 homes damaged in Nahariya isn't mentioned and so on. Why the direct hit on Nahariya hospital, home for the elderly in K.Tivon, a school, kindergarten etc. - why these weren't mentioned.
In any event, as you noticed, it's a touchy subject.
Of course, this has nothing to do with how much I'm appalled and distressed by what happened in Qana today. One wrong does not absolve another.
Thanks Carter. It seems many of us here think alike.Mellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17461471128865537538noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12725467.post-1154351395761281962006-07-31T09:09:00.000-04:002006-07-31T09:09:00.000-04:00So true. No matter how many computer chips we put into bombs, horrendous things will happen (as if the deaths of soldiers aren't bad enough).

My thoughts are with you, and everyone under threat.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12725467.post-1154347130113105172006-07-31T07:58:00.000-04:002006-07-31T07:58:00.000-04:00Jacqueline, thank you so very much.Anon, I'm not s...Jacqueline, thank you so very much.

Anon, I'm not sure who reports what, but let me tell you the reaction is very different from you may have been told. Quite the opposite of indifference.
Of course, most Israelis are grappling with the issue of how to fight a guerilla that uses civilians as human shields and fires rockets on Israel from houses of civilians, so you may have heard reports pertaining to that.Mellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17461471128865537538noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12725467.post-1154340103737490012006-07-31T06:01:00.000-04:002006-07-31T06:01:00.000-04:00Congratulations on not having lost your sense of c...Congratulations on not having lost your sense of compassion!
Newspapers report that the reaction of ordinary Israelis on the tragedy in Qana is mostly indifferent.
It's uplifting to see evidence to the contrary.
All the best to you and your family!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12725467.post-1154321448140922282006-07-31T00:50:00.000-04:002006-07-31T00:50:00.000-04:00Hi Melly,I am sitting in my cozy Jamaican and home...Hi Melly,
I am sitting in my cozy Jamaican and home and your blog has taken me to where you are.
