Name the Nobel Prize Winners

In this "game" you're supposed to identify the Nobel prize winner from a partial photo.
I recognized four and I think I also know who two others are. The rest - I have no idea. Can you do better?

Slate Magazine will award the winner with "a Slate hat and a signed copy of The Genius Factory: The Curious History of the Nobel Prize Sperm Bank, by Slate Deputy Editor David Plotz."

I know 5, 14, and 16 for certain and have vague inklings about 9. I think I also know 6, but don't know the person's name.

Aside from that, I got nothin.

So between the two of us we have quite a bit:
4 is Arafat
5 is Gorbachev
7 is Mandela or Anan
16 - Mother Teresa
I'm not certain about the rest. Come to think of it, I'm only certain about 4 and 5.

Arafat is the only one I can get on account of distinctive headgear. Perhaps that should be a requirement for Nobel Prize winners. For ease of indentification.

Anyway, I'm not sure I could recognize a friend's ear, much less a Nobel Prize winner's.

Madtory headgear for Nobel Prize winners. I'd vote for that :)

Well, Gorbachev had his own headgear actually. I beileve that if you look closely at the picture you can see part of his spot...

You think 7 is Morrison and not Anan? Actually, kinda makes sense now that you say it.

I'm not sure about 6 being the Dalai Lama (he doesn't look like himself there) and about 3 being Gandhi, but you're probably right on 3.

And I was leaning towards 8 being Einstein. Oh, boy.

And I'd have to disagree on 2 - totally looks like my uncle.

I don't think 2 is Begin, but I was wondering if 8 is either Sadat or Einstein - funny, I know.

Wilson makes more sense for 3 than Gandhi, I think.

Yeah... 9 could be Churchill
And 11 Lech Walesa - perhaps. The hair matches, but the picture looks too old - doesn't it?

Got a point about 8 there, Josh.

This game is not fun. I keep looking for my face somewhere in there, only to be rudely reminded I haven't won yet!!

Oh, that reminds me, I have to go watch the lectures given by the laureates. The quantum physicist always have interesting material for sci-fi authors ;-)

Eric, don't give up, your name might still be there one day :)

Josh - bathroom sink huh? :D

I'm about tied with you, Melly. Sure of 4. Good guesses on 2 or 3 more. No clue on the rest.

But when Eric makes it, I'll definitely recognize him.

LOL Patry. Yeah, me too :)

Man I'm awful at this. I can never recgonize anyone. :( Interesting link!

Josh - we should discuss these loopholes. I can feel a post coming :)

Jennifer - don't you worry. None of us did very well. Together we guessed less than half and we're not even sure about most of the ones we guessed.
Like Pat said - I'd be hard pressed to recognize a friend if all I saw was part of their ear.

Patry:>But when Eric makes it, I'll definitely recognize him.

OK, both of you pay close attention. On the 5-Oct-2012 at 1915hrs, a paper titled "On The Inverse Polyhelial Quantum Chromodyanimism Of Kentucky Fried Chicken", will be published and nominated for the Physics Nobel prize. On the front page of that paper you'll find the dedication "To my earliest fans and supporters, Melly and Patry" ;-)

Josh:>Check out Feynman...

Aaah Richard P. Feynman...a genius of a man. I chanced upon a book containing his lectures but couldn't steal it from the library, so I told the gentle librarian as she smiled at me, "I'll be baack". His work will provide no end of interesting discussion, and Melly, please do the honours of a post on it :-)

I can't wait, Eric.
5-Oct-2012 you said? :)

Yes, the post is brewing in my head. It will probably do so for a few days.

Yes, at 1915hrs to be exact :)

I can't wait. In fact this post has given me a very devious idea... ;-)

Eric, devious - oh no...

Gina - I tried to see today if anyone got it but no one still got anything.
I have no clue about 12 and 1. Not even a guess. I would only venture to say that 12 looks feminine.
